Data Ethics Groups
Government Data Ethics and Society Reading Group
Cross government colleagues, including NHS staff, meet 4 times a year to discuss a book/text. Details are posted in the Slack group which is a restricted Slack group based on Government email address and only NHS.net can access this without any admin approval as not every Trust organisation is listed. There are a couple of channels where reading groups are promoted: #ethics and #community_of_interest.
The main Government website is useful for further reading on policy around Ethics such as data ethics framework020.
Data Ethics Club
Coordinated by data scientists in Bristol University the Data Ethics Club is a discussion group/“journal” club about doing data science ethically. The group read blog posts, (parts of) books, or watch videos and it’s open to anyone who is interested. Their GitHub site has a lot of resources and you can sign up to the mailing list to be kept up to date on meetings and receive reminders.
Currently meets bi-weekly.
